cd shelves, finally!

we finally put up shelves for all of our cds (mine are the bottom row only, the rest are all matt's!) in our guest room. next to it, we have a stand with a record player and alex's womb chair nearby too, so it's kinda like a listening room, i'm hoping to read in here and fall asleep often.
the shelves are painted 1" mdf boards on rakks brackets - i don't know why i got such stubby brackets (4") - my best guess is that i was trying to save money or something, but they work ok.

Wedding present

so this is a heavy brass bottle opener made in Sweden that I engraved with a combo name of the bride and groom (maybe that's too hollywood celebrity-ish!) oh well. i hope it lasts as long as the marriage, which is, forever of course :)
i think in the future i'll try to play with the kerning, maybe stretch out the name a little more...

Steel mantel

Funny story about this thing- about a year ago, we designed it and my contractor fabricated it (for free!) and then it was difficult to blacken, but somehow my steel fabricator, Max, decided to blacken it for us (for free!) and then matt decided he didn't want it anymore and wanted to do something else. Max FINALLY got around to it and said, do you want it or not, and so we thought we could always make it into a table or something, randomly last night we put it up and it looks great, and all the leveling and patching and fastening we thought we'd have to do is not needed. Yay!

onesies for jay

i bought a onesie on etsy for my new nephew jay - matt got jealous that he wasn't included on the gift so we bought another one and added to it.

wood tables

these are the tables matt got me for christmas! (well he bought one, we split the other) - one is mahogany, the other is long leaf pine and ash. made a local woodworker, based on a gateleg table design. supposedly you can hang these on the wall.
